We are often asked to update an older hot tub to modern, electronic controls, which can be a lot less expensive than buying a new hot tub, and a lot easier to use. Modern hot tubs use touch pads instead of clunky push-buttons, and can be programmed to turn on and off using digital controls instead of lying on your belly in the dirt pushing miniature pins in and out of an old plastic wheel. Those older control boxes contain dozens of mechanical relays and switches, all of which will eventually fail and need to be replaced.
Older pneumatic push buttons were quaint in their day, but can’t match today’s modern control panels for ease and functional ability. Many owners of modern hot tubs will keep their water at a lower temperature to save on electricity, and turn it up an hour or two before climbing in. With a digital control panel, it’s just a button press. With an old fashioned pack-mounted thermostat under a low deck, that can be challenging at best.
Another benefit to replacing an older hot tub control pack with a modern digital pack is that you are replacing many of the individual parts that can go bad. A complete new control pack includes a new heater, new thermostat, new sensors and a new control panel. Sure, there are still other things in an old hot tub that can break down, but by replacing an old control pack with a new one, you eliminate at least half of the possible components that can fail.
There’s no doubt that an electronic control pack can make your life a whole lot easier. If you’d like more information, we’d be happy to talk to you about it. Call us at 201-897-7900 or 732-894-4494 and tell us about your situation.
