One of the most frequent questions we receive is “What filter do I need for my hot tub?”
Choosing a hot tub filter doesn’t have to be a difficult process, and there are three simple ways to find a filter that will fit.
The easiest way is to just get the part number from the old filter. At least half the filters out there have that number molded into the end:
If your filter doesn’t have a part number molded into it, the next easiest way to find the proper filter for your hot tub is to use a “Search by manufacturer” tool, such as the one on our e-commerce website. You can find it by clicking here.
If you can’t figure out which is the proper filter for your hot tub, you’ll need to get a ruler or a tape measure. There are three simple measurements and one observation you will need:
Finally, you need to make a note of the kind of mount that your center hole uses. There are several varieties, but the most common are open holes, coarse threads and fine threads. Of course, the size of the hole is important because your hot tub generally has a post or fitting that the filter slides over or into. Typical center holes are 2 inches, 2-1/8 inches and 2-1/4 inches, so use care when getting that measurement.
Finally, while having a filter that fits properly is essential, taking care of it is just as important. To keep your hot tub running properly, the filter should be cleaned every month, and replaced after a year. A dirty filter will restrict water flow, slow heating, causing you to use more electricity, and possibly cause premature failure of motors and pumps.
