Cloudy water is usually dead organic material such as bacteria or algae.
If using chlorine to treat your spa (which you now know you shouldn’t do), you’ll probably never see this problem. The quickest way to deal with cloudy water is to “shock” it.
We recommend a chemical called dichlor. Our preferred brand is called “Sodium Dichlor granular chlorine.” It is a pH balanced product that will not increase or decrease your hot tubs alkalinity. Make sure you get the quick dissolving formulation. Mix a cap-full of the granules in a bucket of water, then add it to your spa.
You don’t want to add the granules directly to your spa because they could cause discoloring of the fiberglass if they made contact.
